Giant Chocolate Chip Cookies

mmm...big cookies

I wanted to cheer up my husband today so I decided to make these giant chocolate chip cookies for him. I found this recipe on one of my  favorite baking blogs, since the photos were just so mouthwatering.   This recipe was taken from My Baking Addition.  I just sprinkled the dough with a little sea salt just before putting them in the oven to give a nice salty sweet taste to them.  They are definitely heavy, solid chocolate chip cookies. One was enough for me!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cold and cubed unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 2 3/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon table or fine sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 2 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Directions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

1. In bowl of electric mixer fitted with paddle, cream together butter and sugars until well blended and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, mix in vanilla and beat until well incorporated.

2. Add flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder and mix until just combined. Gently fold in chocolate chips/chunks and nuts.

3. Weigh out the dough into 4 ounce portions and gently roll into a big ball. These cookies won’t spread so much so you can roll fairly large balls of dough.

4. Place each on sheet pan lined with parchment paper  or a silpat and bake in the preheated oven 15-20 minutes depending on how gooey and rawish you like the interior, until very lightly browned, taking care not to overbake.  Sprinkle lightly with sea salt (optional). I baked mine for 20 minute.

5. Let cool on rack and eat!

6. You will need milk!

  1. are these the cookies Chuck was talking about? He told us that you make the most amazing chocolate chip cookies, so I’ll have to try. Love the sea salt option!
